Happy Paws Salon owner Ron Khatib has always loved animals, but prior to serving them professionally he journeyed through the world of the sciences – in particular biotechnology and medicine – his education and background are extensive.

Ron began by earning a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Isfahan University, then went on for a master’s in microbiology from the University of Tennessee, and a Doctorate from the University of Rhode Island. The three years following he spent in New York at Cornell Medical School.

After his years in academia, Ron worked as a scientist at several medical diagnostics and biotechnology companies where he developed numerous life-saving lab tests for diagnosing diseases – from infectious to heart to various types of cancers.

The economic downturn, however, prompted his shift from helping people to helping animals. When many biotech companies were laying off employees due to downsizing, mergers, and re-structuring, Ron decided to make a career change. An avid lover of animals and animal welfare, Ron opted to follow his passion and began pet grooming. When his two children began their studies at UMass, the family then relocated from California to Massachusetts.

Happy Paws Salon opened its doors a few years later in December of 2017. Since then Ron has proudly served dog and cat owners of the Foxborough, Mansfield, Sharon, Franklin, Walpole, and North Attleboro communities.
